History
Seek
Systems was incorporated in August of 1983 in Washington State as a provider of
external storage systems. Initial offerings were for disk arrays to attach to
Wang systems. During the later 80’s and early 90’s, Seek Systems expanded its
presence in the open systems storage market by re-selling RAID technology
manufactured by other companies. Seek’s primary value added then was the
integration of RAID controllers, disk drives, and storage controllers targeted
at the UNIX environment.
In the early 90’s, Seek Systems
manufactured its first hardware controller in the form of a retentive caching
controller, called the Xcelerator, that adds value to existing host(s)
and disk array(s) by speeding the I/O processing. In the mid-90’s, Seek Systems
released its own FasFile RAID family that integrated the Xcelerator
platform with RAID controller technology.

Today
Since May
of 1998, Seek Systems has had a contractual relationship with Hewlett-Packard so
that HP channel partners can provide Seek’s Xcelerator to their HP AutoRAID and
JBOD user community.
IBM Global
Systems Division has represented Seek Systems Adaptive RAID technology in
offerings to the federal government (US Postal Service) because in IBM’s
judgment the Adaptive RAID multi-hosting and intelligent caching architecture
met and exceeded the end user performance requirements and the SSA architecture
did not.
Seek
Systems FasFile RAID systems have been certified by Sun Microsystems as “Solaris
Ready”, by Veritas (Volume Manager and Cluster Server) and is also certified by
Microsoft for NT environments.
Seek also
has had long-standing partnerships with Oracle and received awards from the
Oracle Technical Journal for innovative product offerings.
Seek also
provides products to the federal government by way of reseller and integrator
partners with GSA federal supply schedules.
Most of
Seek Systems’ business over the last three years has been conducted through H-P,
Sun and IBM resellers and integrators.
Seek
Systems has also established relationships in the major countries in Asia and
Europe to support our multi-national customer base.
